Sorry this post was late getting done, but we all know that life gets in the way of our golf games. I had some fatherly duties to take care of last night and was just to tired to get the computer out to write the post.
Fitness update: So far so good on staying on schedule with the routine that has been put together for me. I'm still very sort and tight from the lifting sessions but the good news is the club is starting to feel normal again in my hands. I want to say thank you to the readers that responded to my last post and gave me some ideas for cardio work since I cannot run.
Swing and Speed update: I worked hard on the full swing for a couple hours yesterday. The more I work the full swing and speed, the more confused I get. The ball striking itself is becoming very good, and I am seeing better control over trajectory and shape throughout the bag. Where I'm confused is on the speed issue. My irons seem to be right in line with PGA Tour averages (example, 7 iron has 121 mph ball speed, 91 mph club head speed, 6800 rpm backspin and carry of 170 yards) but my driver numbers are well below PGA Tour Averages (driver 152 mph ball speed, 106 mph club head speed and carry of 260 yards). By those numbers I'm 15 mph slower in ball speed, 7 mph slower in club head speed and 15 yards short in carry distance. I for the life of me cannot figure out why I'm so behind with the driver but on par with the irons. At this point I'm open to any theories that may explain this phenomenon because I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out.
Today I'm going to work on my weight lifting routine, putting and continue the baffling speed issue. So until tonight (two posts in one day!), KEEP IT IN THE SHORT GRASS!
